In the autumn, when the golden lights illuminate the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, the town comes alive to celebrate one of its most iconic events : the votive festival. Every October, this deeply rooted tradition brings together families, friends, and visitors, united by a shared love for Camargue culture.
Every October, Aigues-Mortes passionately celebrates its Camargue tradition with the Votive Festival, one of the highlights of the year for both locals and visitors. A full week of festivities, followed by an animated weekend : 12 days of celebration where bulls and horses are at the heart of the festivities.
The day begins in the meadows outside the ramparts, where the gardians sort the bulls on horseback. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a convivial moment with the traditional breakfast in the meadows, surrounded by friends, family, and curious onlookers.
Then, the main events unfold in the streets and in the arena :
A unique setting : In Aigues-Mortes, the arena is made up of wooden stands, called "theatres", installed for the locals. These structures form "the plan," a traditional arena, reflecting the festive and communal spirit of the town.
The next votive festival will take place from October 4 to 12 and from October 17 to 19, 2025.
You will soon be able to download the event program on this page.
The Comité des Fêtes des Ventres Bleus disclaims all responsibility in the event of an accident occurring during the Votive Festival activities.
All parking areas in Aigues-Mortes are free during the festival. However, parking P1 and P2 are closed as they host the fairgrounds. Additionally, parking P9 is also closed.
To attend the bull races on the "plan", the municipal bleacher has an accessible ramp and a designated area for people with reduced mobility. We recommend arriving early to secure your spot.
All events will go ahead regardless of weather conditions.
Only a weather alert issued by Météo France or severe weather may lead to the cancellation of certain festivities.
