An elegant boutique and exceptional craftsmanship

As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed into a bright, beautifully designed boutique that offers a wonderful introduction to the world of La Botte Gardiane. Through a large glass window, the workshop comes into view, giving a glimpse of the craftsmanship you'll discover during the visit.

Of course, the iconic Camargue boot takes centre stage, but we were also impressed by the wide selection of leather goods : bags, belts, wallets and even more unusual creations, such as decorative vases.

If you can't visit in person, don't worry ! La Botte Gardiane also has two boutiques in Paris, another in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, as well as an online shop.

The guided tour takes us on a journey through the local history and craftsmanship behind La Botte Gardiane. We discover that the Camargue boot is much more than footwear : it is a cultural symbol, created using expertise passed down from generation to generation.

Some of the company's key milestones include :

• 1958 : the first workshop is established.
• 2002 : following devastating floods, the company is revived in Villetelle under the leadership of Mr Aghulon.
• 2007 : awarded the "Living Heritage Company" label.
• 2018 : relocation to Aigues-Vives.
• 2024 : recognition with the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), certifying the quality and local origin of the Camargue boot.

The highlight : discovering the secrets behind the craftsmanship

The workshop follows a clear philosophy : limited production for exceptional quality. Each year, around 10,000 pairs of boots and shoes are carefully handcrafted, showcasing outstanding artisanal expertise.

The manufacturing process begins with the precise cutting of the leather, followed by meticulous stages such as skiving, dyeing and gluing. Each boot is assembled from around ten individual pieces, entirely by hand, with great attention paid to every detail.

What impressed us most was the company's commitment to sustainability and the origin of its materials. Every step is designed to respect the environment while preserving authentic craftsmanship.

The company also offers made-to-measure and repair services, reflecting its commitment to quality and long-lasting products.
