DAY 1 : saturday

Saturday morning

Start your stay by exploring the Towers and Ramparts of Aigues-Mortes. Through historic remains, exhibition spaces and multimedia displays, the fortress reveals its fascinating history. Don't miss the iconic Constance Tower. From the ramparts, enjoy sweeping views over the town, the Salt Marshes and the Camargue. The 1,634-metre circuit is punctuated with information panels and videos.

Saturday afternoon

Would you like to see the iconic Camargue bulls in their natural surroundings ? Book a visit to one of the local manades. Discover the work of the breeders and learn about the Camargue bull and horse. Depending on the season, you can attend a ferrade, watch gardian games or enjoy an evening filled with gypsy guitar music. Several manades can be reached on foot or by bike from the ramparts.

DAY 2 : sunday

Sunday morning

Stroll through the colourful stalls of the Aigues-Mortes market, held every Sunday morning beneath the shade of century-old plane trees. It's the perfect opportunity to fill your basket with local produce and discover the flavours of the region.

Sunday afternoon

Aigues-Mortes is home to a wealth of artistic treasures. Paintings, sculptures, original creations, leather goods, jewellery… Wander through the streets of the medieval town and discover the talent of local artists. You may even find the unique creation you've been dreaming of !

DAY 3 : monday

Monday morning

Explore the ViaRhôna on foot or by bike and enjoy beautiful rides along the canal.

No bike ? No problem. Several rental shops offer standard and electric bikes, and you can also join a guided e-bike nature tour.

Within and beyond the medieval walls of Aigues-Mortes, you'll find plenty of places to eat : traditional or creative cuisine, bistronomic restaurants, waterside guinguettes or sweet treats... there's something for every taste.

Less than two kilometres from the ramparts, the vast natural landscapes of the Aigues-Mortes Saltworks await.

On foot, by bike or with a guide depending on the season, explore part of this exceptional 8,600-hectare site, renowned for its remarkable biodiversity.

Along the way, discover the traditional craft of the salt workers and admire the spectacular pink waters and white salt mounds. Before you leave, don't miss the chance to taste the famous Camargue fleur de sel.

Tuesday afternoon

Take your time to discover Aigues-Mortes at your own pace. Stop by the Tourist Office to pick up a map, or download one before setting off to explore the town's hidden treasures. Wander through the medieval streets, admire the historic monuments and let yourself be surprised by the charm of every corner.

DAY 5 : wednesday

Wednesday morning

The weekly market once again brings the streets of the new town to life.

Then hop aboard the tourist train for a 25-minute guided tour. Sit back and enjoy a pleasant and original way to discover the history of Aigues-Mortes, admire its main landmarks and explore the medieval town from a different perspective.

Wednesday afternoon

During the season, enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Rhône–Sète Canal.

As you glide along the water, take in the landscapes of the Camargue, spot herds of bulls and horses, and unwind to the gentle sound of the water.

DAY 6 : thursday

Thursday morning

Set off along hidden paths with a passionate naturalist guide.

Thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the region, you'll gain access to protected areas, some of them usually closed to the public, for an authentic immersion in the heart of the Camargue.

Afternoon Treat

After all that exploring, it's time for a well-earned break ! Stop by one of our bakeries and enjoy a slice of the famous Aigues-Mortes fougasse, a delicious sweet brioche flavoured with butter, sugar and orange blossom. Savour it on the lively Place Saint-Louis or in the peaceful surroundings of Place de la Viguerie.

Thursday afternoon

Easily reached on foot or by bike via the greenway, the Maison Grand Site de France de la Camargue Gardoise is well worth a visit.

After exploring the ecomuseum, follow the boardwalk to the viewpoint overlooking the Marette lagoon. It's the perfect spot to observe local wildlife and plants or simply enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature.

DAY 7 : friday

For your final day, several options are easily accessible by public transport.

Head to the beaches of Le Grau-du-Roi

Pack your hat, sunscreen and swimsuit, then take the bus or regional train to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coast.

Discover Nîmes

In just over an hour, explore the treasures of Nîmes : the Roman Arena, the Maison Carrée, the Tour Magne, the Jardins de la Fontaine and the Museum of Romanity.

Spend the day in Montpellier

Bus and tram connections also make it easy to reach Montpellier. Wander through the historic Écusson district, visit the Fabre Museum or discover the MO.CO., before returning to Aigues-Mortes.
