True underwater gardens, seagrass meadows play an essential role in maintaining the balance of the Mediterranean coastline. They support exceptional biodiversity, capture carbon, produce oxygen and help protect the coast from erosion.
With “Gardens Under the Sea”, Seaquarium Institut Marin invites you to discover these ecosystems through an immersive photographic exhibition. The photographs by Gis Posidonie and Stéphane Jamme reveal the beauty of seagrass meadows and their importance for marine life.
Throughout the exhibition, discover several emblematic Mediterranean species, including Posidonia oceanica, as well as the species they shelter, the threats they face and the actions taken to protect them.
An exhibition created by Mathilde Nourigat, scientific outreach officer at Seaquarium and coordinator of the “seagrass meadows” monitoring programme.
From 19/03 to 31/10/2026 daily.
Free access. Exhibition integrated into the visitor route.
