Aigues-Mortes > Les Portes du Vidourle

The “Les Portes du Vidourle” route offers a pleasant 8.3 km circular trail, ideal for a walk or bike ride and accessible to all. This outing invites you to discover the natural landscapes surrounding the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes.

The route begins gently along the canal. Halfway along, you will reach the Portes du Vidourle, a hydraulic structure designed to protect the town of Aigues-Mortes from flooding, bearing witness to the close relationship between people and their environment. The trail then continues through a shaded woodland, perfect for relaxing.

Further along, the path runs alongside a manade (Camargue bull-breeding estate), where you may be lucky enough to spot Camargue horses and bulls.

Combining water, woodland and local traditions, this varied walk offers an authentic immersion in the region’s natural surroundings and living heritage.
