The photography session “Bull Herd Crossing” invites you to witness an iconic spectacle of Camargue traditions: a herd of bulls swimming across a pond, guided by gardians (traditional Camargue cowboys) on horseback.
The term “gase”, derived from the Provençal word *gaso*, refers to a herd crossing a body of water. This practice recalls the great seasonal migrations of the past, when herds had to cross rivers at fords to reach their summer or winter pastures.
At daybreak, meet at the Tour Carbonnière to witness this spectacular scene and try to capture its full intensity through your photographs. The session concludes with breakfast shared with the gardians, offering a special opportunity to talk about Camargue traditions and rural life.
