Located between sea and salt, The Saltworks of Aigues-Mortes are situated in the immediate vicinity of the medieval city and its famous ramparts.
This exceptional site, made up of ponds fed by Mediterranean seawater, is where table salt, industrial salt, and the famous fleur de sel are produced, hand-harvested using traditional know-how.
Today, ten salt workers continue this ancestral tradition, carefully managing water flows according to sunshine, wind, storms, and salinity.
The Saltworks of Aigues-Mortes offer a breathtaking landscape, with shimmering pink waters, salt tables, and rich, protected biodiversity. From certain viewpoints, you can admire the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, a panorama combining wild nature and historical heritage.
An unmissable visit for anyone wishing to discover a unique natural site, immerse themselves in authentic local tradition, and experience the heart of the Camargue between sea, nature, and culture.
