The eco-friendly actions

Discovering Aigues-Mortes and the Camargue also means choosing to do so while respecting the environment and heritage.

Every gesture counts : moving gently through the area, staying on marked paths, observing wildlife without disturbing it, sorting waste, supporting local businesses, and limiting energy consumption.

The Tourist Office is committed to reducing its environmental impact and invites you to join this approach. Together, visitors and residents help preserve the natural, historical, and cultural richness of the territory.

Adopt Responsible Behaviour

  • Move at moderate speed when cycling or using paths to avoid accidents.
  • Use appropriate equipment : helmet, lights, and bike lock.
  • Take your waste with you and sort it to avoid polluting nature.
  • Reduce noise pollution and respect other visitors and local residents.

Plan Your Trips

  • Choose routes suited to your level and physical abilities.
  • Bring water, a hat, and binoculars to observe nature without disturbing it.
  • Prefer cooler hours to enjoy a comfortable and safe experience.
  • Plan your trips to limit travel distances and group activities together.

Good to Know

A 10 km trip by bike instead of by car saves about 2 kg of CO₂. Multiply that over several days, and the impact becomes significant !

  • Observe wildlife carefully and quietly.

  • Prefer local and seasonal products to support the local economy.
  • Choose restaurants and businesses committed to sustainable development.
  • Participate in local initiatives that protect nature and heritage.

Practice Energy Saving

  • Turn off lights and standby devices when leaving your accommodation.
  • Limit air conditioning use : prefer fans, morning or evening ventilation, and keep shutters closed during hot hours.
  • Do not overload household appliances (washing machine, dishwasher) ; use eco cycles.
  • Avoid running hot water unnecessarily, as it consumes a lot of energy.

Acting together for responsible tourism

The Tourist Office of Aigues-Mortes works to reduce its environmental impact and promote sustainable tourism.

Our brochures are available in digital format to limit paper use. On-site, we favour low-energy practices : LED lighting, natural ventilation, and low-energy equipment. Our waste management is strict, with systematic sorting and recycling.

Our staff, trained in eco-friendly practices, also promote local environmental initiatives.

And you, visitors, can also participate : reporting polluting behaviour, respecting natural spaces, and adopting responsible habits helps preserve the richness and beauty of Aigues-Mortes, for today and for the future.
