Reaching the Mediterranean

Looking for a breath of fresh air? Follow the cycling/footpath between the maritime channel and the pond, all the way to the sea. Follow the route south to a nearby fishing village, Le-Grau-du-Roi. Our tip: be there at 5 p.m. to see the fishing boats arrive!

Exploring the Camargue countryside

For a moment of peace and quiet in the midst of unspoilt wilderness, explore the Tour Carbonnière. Head north on the Via-Rhôna, cross the bridge and set your bike aside. Continue on foot to follow a path on stilts while admiring the scenery.

Once you've reached this superb 13th-century tower, open 24/7 and free of charge, take the spiral staircase up to the top terrace. Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of ponds, reed beds, waterways and native wildlife... A delight for the eyes and the mind!

NATURE RESERVES AROUND AIGUES-MORTES

La Maison Grand Site de France de la Camargue Gardoise

A visit to the Maison Grand Site de France is a must (free of charge) if you want to immerse yourself in the Camargue landscape. A museographic exhibit space, a boutique and access to the discovery trail await you. You can even plan to picnic outside in the shade in the area set aside for the purpose.

Le salin d'Aigues-Mortes

The Aigues-Mortes saltworks can be visited on foot, by bike, by mini-train or even by 4x4. Climb a "camelle de sel" for an exceptional view of the ramparts.

To get there on foot, walk along the left-hand side of  the intercity road D979, taking care to walk behind the wooden barrier. Keep in mind, the barrier doesn't go all the way to the saltworks entrance! Be cautious!

A word of advice: if you want to take the mini train, make sure you buy your tickets at least the day before!

On foot or by bike, just 2 kilometers from the ramparts, a manade invites you to explore the grounds in a towed trailer, as part of a "soirée camarguaise" or on foot,  guided by an app, on the discovery trail (ideal for families with children)... Choose the outing that suits you!

Find ingredients for meals made with 100% local produce: sand-grown potatoes and carrots from small local producers, Camargue bull meat, seafood from the Grau-du-Roi fish auction, AOP Sable de Camargue wines, "canelés de Camargue" or carefully prepared take-away dishes...
