The eco-friendly actions

Discovering Aigues-Mortes and the Camargue also means choosing to do so while respecting the environment and heritage.

Every action counts : travel gently, stay on the trails, observe wildlife without disturbing it, sort your waste, support local businesses and limit your energy consumption.

The Tourist Office is committed to reducing its environmental impact and invites you to join this initiative. Together, visitors and residents can help preserve the natural, historical and cultural richness of the area.

Adopt responsible behaviour

  • Travel at a moderate speed by bike or on paths to avoid collisions.
  • Use suitable equipment : a helmet, lights and a bike lock.
  • Take your waste with you and sort it to avoid polluting nature.
  • Reduce noise pollution and respect other visitors and residents.

Prepare your trips

  • Choose routes suited to your level and physical abilities.
  • Bring water, a hat and binoculars to observe nature without disturbing it.
  • Choose the cooler hours to enjoy a pleasant and safe experience.
  • Plan your trips to limit journeys and combine activities.

Good to know

A 10 km bike ride, instead of travelling by car, helps save around 2 kg of CO₂. Multiply this over several days, and the impact is real !

Practise energy efficiency

  • Turn off lights and appliances on standby when you leave your accommodation.
  • Limit the use of air conditioning : choose fans, morning or evening ventilation and keep shutters closed during the hottest hours.
