Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, in the heart of the Aigues-Mortes boom under the reign of Saint-Louis, the Church of Notre-Dame des Sablons harmoniously combines Gothic and Romanesque styles, with its flying buttresses and large rose window. Its simple yet majestic stonework has stood the test of time, offering a fascinating glimpse into the Middle Ages.
Inside, the great nave and side chapels create an atmosphere conducive to contemplation. The light filtering through Claude Viallat's contemporary stained-glass windows floods the space with vibrant colors, while Bernard D'Honneur's installations and sculptures add a modern dimension, in dialogue with the site's historical heritage.
The church is thus a unique space where medieval architecture and contemporary art meet, offering visitors a complete cultural and spiritual experience.
