Every February, the medieval city of Aigues-Mortes celebrates winter in its own way, with fervor, passion, and tradition. The winter votive festival is much more than just an event : it is a highlight of the local calendar, a festive interlude where Camargue culture is fully expressed.

THE PROGRAM OF THE wINTER VOTIVE FESTIVAL

The winter votive festival of Aigues-Mortes is a must-attend event every year in February for all enthusiasts of Camargue traditions and bullfighting culture.

For two consecutive weekends, the town celebrates its heritage with a rich program of popular events : abrivados, bandidos, Camargue bull races, and numerous bull-related animations.

But the winter votive festival is also a time for meetings and conviviality, where locals and visitors come together to share the flavors of the region in the lively streets of the city :

  • Breakfast in the meadows : A convivial moment in nature, starting in the morning
  • Abrivados : The bulls are brought into town, accompanied by gardians on horseback
  • Bull races in the arena, an ephemeral arena set up at the foot of the ramparts
  • Bandidos : At the end of the day, the bulls are escorted back to the fields, crossing the city

All parking in Aigues-Mortes is free during the festival.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY (PRM)

To attend the bull races on the "plan", the municipal bleacher has an accessible ramp and a designated area for people with reduced mobility. We recommend arriving early to secure your spot.

WEATHER

All events will go ahead regardless of weather conditions.
Only a weather alert issued by Météo France or severe weather may lead to the cancellation of certain festivities.
